Our History
In 2009, in the small town of Virgem da Lapa, Minas Gerais, seven women from the Shekinah National Baptist Church were chosen by God for a special mission: to form the group Atalaias de Cristo. For four years, they prayed for guidance until, in 2013, they received the revelation that they should acquire land to start a project that would change lives.
Thus, the "Santo de Deus no Deserto" Project was born, focused on caring for families in vulnerable situations. With great effort, the group purchased two hectares of land and gradually transformed the space: planting trees, installing water, and, with the help of collaborators, creating an orchard, an artesian well, and electricity.
In 2017, they founded the Atalaias de Cristo Association, and in 2024, they began constructing the official building for services, bringing to life the dream of helping children, teenagers, and families find hope and support.
